Wainwright summits:            Gowbarrow Fell, Little Mell Fell and Great Mell Fell.

Weather:                  A fine day with well broken cloud above the tops.

We left the car at the National Trust car par at Aira Force and took a path which led around the southern end of Gowbarrow Fell.

After only a few minutes walking this view of Ullswater came into view.

We turned off the main path around this point to go over Green Hill and to make our way to the summit.

Our path from Gowbarrow would take us down to the forest known as Swinburn's Park to Little Mell Fell.

Looking back to Gowbarrow from the other side of Swinburn's Park with Place Fell on the left. The path continued to a minor road and then to a path up Little Mell Fell.

Dave on Little Mell Fell. From here we descended to Lowthwaite and then walked along minor roads to the access point for Great Mell Fell near Brownrigg farm.

Gowbarrow Fell from Great Mell. Our route would take us to the white cottages at its base called Ulcat Row from where we could take a path back to the car.

This path from Ulcat Row leads down past Aira Force back to the car park. Place Fell is behind.

It's a popular place with visitors to the area.

From here it was only a short walk back to the car.
