A beautiful Sunday morning dawned and we had made no plans. I didn't fancy travelling too far so we made the short journey to Crag Foot for a walk to Jenny Brown's Point and Jack Scout. On our return we took a walk down to the Eric Morecambe hide at Leighton Moss.

After parking the car we made our way to the embankment which carries our footpath.

The flood embankment will take us around to the right from where we will follow the shore.

Looking over to Jenny Browns Point. Between us is salt marsh and pools with uninviting names such as "Quicksand Pool"....best keep to the path.

There were a few orchids about on the limestone edges to the shore.

A redundant stile as we walk along the shoreline.

There isn't that much of the salt marsh left here.

Looking over to Morecambe. The old bridge across the channel collapsed long ago as coastal erosion took away the ground from under it.

Jenny Brown's cottages.

From Jenny Brown's we made our way to the NT reserve at Jack Scout.

Jack Scout is not very big in area but every inch is a delight with views around the bay and across to Grange.

Mustn't forget to visit the Giants Seat.

Doesn't she just get everywhere!!

Calves at Gibraltar Farm.

A look to a distant Black Combe (centre picture) from Gibraltar.

From Gibraltar we made our way to Woodwell via Bottoms Wood.

There were some bluebells in the wood but I think the wild garlic just overpowers them.

The pond at Woodwell....I think I've said before how difficult I find it to photograph.

Leaving Woodwell we had a short road walk back towards Crag Foot before picking up the path through Fleagarth Wood which took us back to the shore and the embankment.

As we walked back towards the car we decided to visit the Eric Morecambe (of Morecambe & Wise fame) hide. This is part of the RSPB Leighton Moss reserve but located a little way away from the main complex.

I'm not a birdwatcher, I don't have enough patience to be so, but I do think the pools make a good foreground and if there's owt on them even better.

A long necked gull?

or maybe a Grey Heron.

And finally....Crag Foot as we walk back to the car.

Next Walk:     18th May 2010 - South Cumbria - Dallam Park & Haverbrack from Beetham

Last Walk:    4th May 2010 - Local - Half Moon Bay and Heysham Barrows from home.
