The pictures on these pages are either Local or Holiday pictures that do not appear in the walks.

Some pictures that I found recently of a walk on the 1st October 2003 from the Old Dungeon Ghyll to Angle Tarn via the Stake Pass with the return down Rossett Gill.

The Old Dungeon Ghyll car park on a bright and sunny October morning

Behind the car park the climbers playground of Raven Crag

The long path up Mickleden with the slopes of The Band to the left and Bowfell behind.

One of the locals who is totally unconcerned at us passing

Pike O'Stickle and the scree slope of the south gully where the "Stone Axe" factory was located

Nearing the head of Mickleden with the path leading to Rossett Gill.

And to the right the path up the Stake Pass which we would be taking

And for those not sure....a handy signpost

Nearing the top of the Stake Pass and weaving through the drumlins in Langdale Combe

Crossing the wet ground at the top of the Stake Pass before swinging SW'ly to Angle Tarn

Looking N'wards into Langstrath with Sergeant's Crag and Eagle Crag on the right and Rosthwaite Fell to the left

Our path ahead, sometimes wet but always with good views

A glimpse of Angle Tarn. The path ahead leads towards Esk Hause

Edith on the stepping stones across Angletarn Gill. This was probably our buttie stop but I can't honestly remember

It was certainly our turning point as from here we headed back via Rossett Gill.

Looking down into Great Langdale from the top of Rossett Gill

The path as been greatly improved over the years leading people away from following the gill itself

Giving the knees a rest at the Mickleden sheepfold

It was a long walk coming up the valley but going back seems further!

Getting there!

Looking across the valley to Lingmoor and Side Pike

Back to the Old Dungeon Ghyll
