The pictures on these pages are either Local or Holiday pictures that do not appear in the walks.

The following pictures are from a walk we did from Elterwater in May 2004. From Elterwater we walked up Great Langdale to the New Dungeon Ghyll along the valley bottom. From the NDG we returned via the Cumbria Way to Elterwater village. It was such a lovely day that we then walked to Elterwater itself and on to Skelwith Force before returning to the car.

From Elterwater we made our way to Chapel Stile using a path that followed the Great Langdale Beck

Chapel Stile with Megs Gill to the right

This path would take us into the campsite at Baysbrown

From the campsite looking towards the Langdale Pikes with Harrison Stickle in the middle and Pavey Ark to the right

There were plenty of these cheeky chappies about enjoying the sun

The Langdales from near the footbridge at Oak Howe

On the bridleway between Robinson Place and the NDG

Pike O'Blisco with the cloud just touching the summit. To the right is the bump of Great Knott

The saw-tooth profile of the Crinkle Crags

Approaching the NDG ...Harrison Stickle, Pavey Ark and Tarn Crag

After a drink and a bite to eat at the Sticklebarn we made our way back to Elterwater using this section of the Cumbria Way. The Crinkle Crags on the skyline with The Band in the centre.

Looking across tthe valley to Loft Crag, Harrison Stickle, Pavey Ark and Tarn Crag with the knobble of Pike Howe below Harrison Stickle

Making our way back to Oak Howe.

A look back. The view of the Langdales from the valley bottom is something I never tire of.

From Oak Howe we walked back to Elterwater through Hag Wood and Baysbrown Wood

It was too nice to leave without going down to the waterside at Elterwater

And from there it's only a short walk to Skelwith Force

Before returning to Elterwater and the car.
