25th July 2008

The school holidays have just started and I had been promising a visit to this place for some time. As well as the two eldest granddaughters Renee and Sophie we also had our Daughter-in-laws neice Karena who is from Lithuania.

For further information on "The Lakeland Maize Maze" click HERE ....it will open in a new page.

It was only a 20 minute drive from home but all the way it was "how long now?" etc.......A very warm day and it's only 10:15am

Karena (8), Renee (9) and Sophie (9 going on 19)

A look over the maize maze. It goes a quite a bit further to the left

The entrance to the maze is by the tower

A look back up to the main buildings and the car parking area

On our way led by Sophie. There are a number of bridges from where some sense of direction can be gained. However once on the ground it is quite confusing. The bridge you see here is manned. The "leader" of each group is given a flag to wave in case of emergencies.

Entering the furthest field. The idea is that you look for boards with quiz questions on them and fill in a leaflet.

Getting warm!!.... Renee stays near Nan

Meanwhile I'm trying to keep these two in check.

Heading back.....They were ready for something cool by now

The play and picnic area is nicely laid out

Ice Cream and drinks

Crazy chick Sophie

Renee feeling the heat.

Foreget the maze, this is what we want to do

It wasn't long before the food and bags had been eaten by the Pygmy Goats but there was a plentiful supply of grass which they enjoyed.

A thoroughly enjoyable few hours in South Lakeland which I can recommend. Would advise taking a picnic though as there is no cafe at present. There are cold drinks , ice cream etc and there was burger bar but the kids didn't want burgers.
