Below are some pictures sent to me by Colin & Joan Ainsworth of a walk they did in the Silverdale area on the 25th November 2008.

They say,

"Dear Dave & Edith,

A nice walk we did around Silverdale - we know you are familiar with the area.
The walk starts at Leighton Moss visitor centre car park, along the road
past The Row, through Fleagarth Wood to Heald Brow.  Next to Woodwell
Cliff, Woodwell, and Bottoms Wood and into the village centre, leaving
by The Row to the Cove.  From the Cove we took the path through Elmslack
skirting King Williams Hill to Eaves Wood, crossing the golf course and
back to Leighton Moss visitor centre where we had soup and a roll.
Excellent.

Regards,

Colin & Joan"

The RSPB Visitor Centre at Leighton Moss where the walk started from.

As they walked along the road they passed Silverdale Golf club.

Could be confusing , but they carried on along the road a little way before taking a left turn to Gibraltar Farm and the Wolf House Gallery.

A couple of hundred yards after taking the left turn there is a signpost leading into Fleagarth Wood.

It's amazing how the trees manage to grow through the limestone pavement.

Just before the path reaches the shore they took a path up Heald Brow

I have stuck one of my old pictures in here for the sake of continuity and to show the view from the climb up Heald Brow. That's Warton Crag your looking at.

Leaving Heald Brow they crossed over the road to enter Woodwell.

There are two paths. One to the right goes over Woodwell Cliff and a lower one to the left which the took...

which leads to the pond under the cliff.

The delightful Woodwell Cottage

A view across the Kent estuary to Grange and Hampsfell

"The Cove" at Silverdale

There route then took them through Elmslack to walk through Eaves Wood to the car park at The Row.

Walking back along The Row they passed the Bank Well pond

And finally across the golf course back to the visitor centre for Soup and a Roll,,,,,,sonds good to me!!

Many thanks to Colin & Joan once again for sharing their walk & pictures.
