The pictures below were sent in by Colin & Joan Ainsworth and come from a walk they did around Silverdale & Arnside last May. It makes me feel a little better as the warmer weather approaches. I used to love the winter walking but my joints, particularly the kness would not stand up to it nowadays.

The walk started at Silverdale and they took the field paths to The Row

Approaching The Row. From here it is a short walk to Eaves Wood

The path through Eaves Wood to Waterslack

Waterslack where they crossed the railway line to go to Far Waterslack

Cottage at Far Waterslack

Middlebarrow Quarry....now disused

A short walk through the woods leads to the field paths to Arnside.

A look across to Arnside Knott which would be visited later

Mmmmm......The smell of wild garlic....I love it.

A short walk along the road brought them to the promenade at Arnside.

Arnside Pier and the Kent estuary.

A walk through the village brings them to Arnside Knott.

Bad hair day?

Anybody got a backscratcher?

Orchid

A look back as they climb up the Knott

The Lovers Tree on Arnside Knott

Although small in stature the Knott offers good views

Looking over Heathwaite to Kents Bank and Humphrey Head.

Entering Heathwaite on the way back to Silverdale.

The Cove at Silverdale from where it was just a short walk back to the village.

The Millenium Clock at Silverdale.

Many thanks to Colin & Joan for allowing me to share these pictures.
