25th August 2009
After a day stuck in the house by myself feeling a bit off, spirits were lifted when both the weather brightened and Edith came home from visiting her brother. We left home around 6-30pm for the short journey to Glasson Dock. It was actually a pleasure driving through Lancaster at this time with the roads virtually traffic free. We parked near Glasson and had a short walk around. The sun was fairly low in the sky when we finished so we made our way up to the top of Tithe Barn Hill to watch the sun go down behind Sunderland Point. A very pleasant end to the day.
More canal barges than normal in the Marina
There was also a couple of these barges. What they are for and why they are here I have no idea, I just liked the sky refecting in the water in this one.
OK...That's as close as your getting!!
A short walk along the Glasson Branch of the Lancaster Canal
Glasson Church
The sheltered canal gave the chance of a few reflections
This is where we left the canal
Looking over to the Bowland Fells
And up the River Lune.....spot the hot air balloon?
Reflections in the salt-water dock
A wider view
This view took my fancy
Yachts in the Marina. The sun was getting quite low now so we walked back to the car and parked up at Tithe Barn Hill
Over the River Lune to Sunderland Point
I was well chuffed with this picture. I had just done a bit of a "zoom" in on the houses at Sunderland and it wasn't till I downloaded it to the PC that I saw the Wind Farm off Barrow complete with a passing ship.
The sun lights up the windows of a building at Lancaster University
Wonderfull colours as the sun gets lower
Unfortunately there was once again a thicker bank of cloud on the horizon
But well worth the wait.
