18th December 2009

A few pictures from a short walk from our home which took us first along the shoreline at Half Moon Bay and over Heysham Barrows to St Patrick's Chapel before returning through Heysham Village.

A 5 minute walk took us over Smithy Hill and through the community woods to Half Moon Bay.

A glorious day but very cold.

As is often the case we were treated to a splendid aerial display by the shore birds which congregate at the gas base helipad.

I really must remember to capture this on video next time.

Black Combe, the southernmost of AW's Outlying Fells.

Heading to the Barrows with the Southern & Central Fells ahead.

It must be around noon...here's the boat from the Isle of Man, probably the Ben My Chree

Entering the harbour.

Walking across the former Heysham Head site, now owned by the National Trust.

The little cove on the right was once a recognised nudist beach. On days like today it is easy to see why it never took off.

Coniston Fells with a glimpse of the Scafells behind

Snowy Howgills.

Canine capers on the Barrows as we make our way to the chapel.

St Patrick's Chapel and the stone graves.

A mere 24.1 miles as the crow flies to the highest point in Old Lancashire....Coniston Old Man.

Helvellyn & Fairfield Fells over Grange and Hampsfell are a little further away at around 30miles.

If it's cold here it's veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cold there.

St Peters Church at Heysham

Main Street , Heysham Village

On our way back home and looking over the cricket field back to the village

The Old Hall at Heysham.....soon be home now.
