22nd December 2009

It seems rather appropriate that on a Christmas Eve there should be some snowy pictures. Be thankful then dear reader that the weather gods decided to dump around 4 inches of snow on the evening of the 21st December 2009. Now this may seem nothing to many of you but for those living on the North West coast of England it is rather unusual. Our more usual winter snows consist of perhaps a millimetre or two which barely lasts long enough to get a picture. This morning Edith wanted to visit the local market so the opportunity was taken to get these few pictures.

Ediths garden was buried 'neath a blanket of snow and it's still falling as we leave.

We parked on the promenade near the Polo Tower to walk into town.

The snow was grand to walk on and about 4 inches deep

A rather different looking beach to normal

The Midland Hotel

Looking across the bay towards Barrow the sky was getting some nice colours.

A look back from near the Midland

Cold Cormorants

Looking over towards the Winter Gardens

The "Linda"

Central beach.

Beautiful skies.

"Our Eric".....What happened to "Bring me Sunshine"!!

The tropical view of the Midland isn't quite as convincing in snow.

Crossing over to the market.....and that's it folks!!!!

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
