7th August 2010

Another cloudy and drizzly start to the day and we had little time because of other commitments to do much. We decided to have a short walk along the Lancaster Canal at Hest Bank with a return along the shore path which is part of the Lancashire Coastal way. The walk itself was little more than 2.5 miles with virtually no ascent but once the light rain had stopped was a pleasant way to pass an hour or so and the milky coffee at the cafe on the beach was most welcome.

The Lancaster Canal at Hest Bank and it's drizzling!

Waterside reflections.

More light rain!

A look back as it starts to brighten a little.

No reflections here as we catch the SW'ly breeze.

But as the canal swings to the left there are a few at this sheltered spot.

The ripples on the water give this "squiggly" effect....that's a Lanky technical term by the way!

Mum, Dad and 6 cygnets. This is where we left the canal to make our way to the shore.

Passing the caravan park near the shore.

Red Bank House with its leaning trees.

Looking along the shore to Red Bank.

And t'other way which is our route.

Some salt marsh still remains here although not as much as there used to be.

Red Bank catches the sun.

Looking over the salt marsh to Morecambe.

2 Milky coffees, 1 slice of Fruit Cake and 1 Scone.....oh!, and Ediths paying.

Just a short walk up Station Road to the canal and car.
