1st December 2011

It had been over a week since our last walk due to me being a bit under the weather. I wasn't sure what the problem was but my breathing was more laboured than usual and my chest felt a bit tight. On top of that the weather hadn't been owt to write home about. Anyway by now I was ready to just get out and the plan had been to have had a ride out to the Hodbarrow Nature Reserve near Millom but with the weather a bit unsettled we decided against a 120+ mile trip in favour of a few short local walks.

We first visited the pools on the foreshore near Crag Foot.

Jenny Brown's Point from the Allen Hide.

Jenny Brown's Point from the Eric Morecambe hide.

From the shoreside hides we made our way to the RSPB centre at Leighton Moss.

On the feeders....

....and below the feeders.

A chubby and very tame Robin which we saw on the causeway on our way to the public hide.

A pair of Cormorants.

A brief chat with the owner of this smallholding who was feeding the sheep.

A short run to Arnside for a cuppa and cake.

And finally on our way home at Far Arnside the part hidden sun was lighting up the top end of the bay.
