We had to pay a visit to Lancaster today and after we had finished our business there we made the short journey to the Conder Green picnic site for a walk to Glasson Dock. It was a rather overcast day with the sun trying to break through which made for some great reflections on the marina. One picture in particular made quite a stir on Facebook. I'll let you guess which one.
Looking towards Glasson Dock and across the river to Overton as we set off from Conder Green.
From the same place and looking the other way towards the Bowland hills.
It was a very still morning and when the sun managed to get through it lit the river up.
To the left in the distance is Whitbarrow with Arnside Knott on the right.
Across the river the Power Stations peek over the Hall Greaves at Overton.
We decided to walk down to the river end of the dock hoping to see the swans but unfortunately they were elsewhere. However this cargo ship was alongside the wall outside the dock. Not sure where she was from from as I couldn't see her flag aft but that name looks all Greek to me.
Looking across the river to Overton...
.....and upriver towards Clougha Pike.
As we headed back towards the Marina the salt water dock looked fabulous with the clouds reflected in it.
The MV Silver River from the Isle of Man was loading cargo in the dock.
A look back along the dock.
We left the dock to make our way to the marina and the reflections on the still water were beautiful.
I couldn't resist a couple more.
Finally we left the marina to walk along the canal to the first bridge..
Bowland from the canal bridge.
On our way back now and a glimpse of the Coniston fells across the river.
Back to Conder Green and the cloud clears...
Yeah!.....course we did!
