These pictures are from a visit to Stirling to visit the Wallace Monument and then to Loch Lomond

The Wallace monument built as a tribute to the 13th Century Scottish hero William Wallace. Completed in 1869 the tower stands 220 feet tall. This picture was taken from the car park below which meant a good walk up to the tower.

After climbing the 246 steps of the spiral staircase the views were splendid.

A close up of Stirling Castle

A 5' 4" Claymore

This statue erected in 1997 as caused quite a bit of controversy as it it bears more resemblance to the actor Mel Gibson of "Braveheart" fame than William Wallace it as been frequently vandalised. The lease on the ground was due to expire in September 2004 I do not know if it is still there or not.

From Stirling we drove over to Loch Lomond
