The purpose of this section is to show various pictures from Cumbria which do not normally appear on our walks pages. They may have been taken on a day out or maybe on the way to or back from one of our walks. Either way I hope that you will enjoy them.
It was a rather dull day and we didn't feel like walking so after going into town to do a few jobs which have been neglected with the fine weather we decided to have a run out to Arnside to see Barry at the Beach Walk cafe.
We went via Milnthorpe where I took this picture of the River Bela from the A6.
We arrived at Arnside about high water. This shows the railway viaduct across the River Kent.
The views across the estuary were virtually nil.
This vehicle is the one that Fred Talbot the Granada TV weatherman travels about in when filming the "Where am I today?" series. They were in Arnside filming. Fred also did the "Wainwright Country" series of fellwalks for Granada TV.
Ashmeadow House
Looking down a very murky estuary towards New Barns.
Beach Walk Cafe.....run by Barry and very good value for money
The Albion
Arnside Pier
A local fisherman waits patiently.
Plenty of cars parked along the promenade.
