The purpose of this section is to show various pictures from Cumbria which do not normally appear on our walks pages. They may have been taken on a day out or maybe on the way to or back from one of our walks or sent in by one of our readers. Either way I hope that you will enjoy them.

Below are a few pictures I took on a visit to Kirkby Lonsdale. From Devil's Bridge we walked alongside the River Lune as far as the Radical Steps which led us up to the famous Ruskin's View. From there we walked into the town and then back to the car. The walk itself is barely 2 miles long and apart from the Radical Steps as no climbing. It is on good paths, although the section near the river by The Island can be a little wet after heavy rain.
We parked the car near Devil's Bridge shown here with a group of youngsters enjoying the river.
There is a path that follows the river to the town. It starts at Devil's Bridge and initially runs between the river and the playing fields shown here
The River Lune. The river rises in the Howgill Fells and travels down to enter the sea into Morecambe Bay.
"Give us a wave mate!"
This section of path passing The Island can be a bit wet but nothing serious
The section of path leading to The Radical Steps.....If you want to avoid the steps there is a path up into the town before this section. Spot the fisherman?.....centre picture, in the river near the shingle spit.
Fill in the missing words and numbers......Well there are 86 steps so.....Take it easy
Built in 1819 by Francis Pearson to test peoples lungs.....just joking!!

The River Lune from Devil's Bridge.
This kiosk will have a higher turnover than many cafes. Devil's Bridge is a very popular spot particularly at the weekends with the Motor Biking fraternity.
