Visions of Cumbria

The purpose of this section is to show various pictures from Cumbria which do not normally appear on our walks pages. They may have been taken on a day out or maybe on the way to or back from one of our walks or sent in by one of our readers. Either way I hope that you will enjoy them.

The pictures below were taken on Saturday 15th November 2008. I had been given a Steroid injection a couple of days earlier for the RA and was feeling a wee bit better although not ready for walking. We drove to Newby Bridge in the South lakes and then took the road over Cartmel Fell to Bowland Bridge before returning down the Lyth Valley.

Gummer's How and Windermere from a lay-by on the road up Cartmel Fell

And from near the Gummer's How car park.

Lakeside and Summer House Knott

Looking over the Lyth Valley towards Cunswick Fell and Scout Scar from Strawberry Bank.

Scout Scar close up from Strawberry Bank.

Looking back up Strawberry Bank from Bowland Bridge

The Post Office/Sho and Cafe at Bowland Bridge.....Bad news...The cafe closes at noon on Saturday and it's 12:15pm.

Not to worry.....look what's on t'other side of the road.

From Bowland Bridge we made our way back to the A5074 which runs down the Lyth Valley
