Visions of Cumbria

The purpose of this section is to show various pictures from Cumbria which do not normally appear on our walks pages. They may have been taken on a day out or maybe on the way to or back from one of our walks or sent in by one of our readers. Either way I hope that you will enjoy them.

A few pictures from a visit to Ambleside on the 3rd January. The purpose of the visit was to do a bit of shopping but with Edith still under the weather that was soon forgotten when she saw how busy it was. We did manage a little walk into town though for a cuppa and these pictures were taken along the way.

We left the car at Waterhead and after a visit to the Roman Fort of Galava walked into town.

It was a bit dull but still with decent views

Looking back to Waterhead

The Fairfield Horseshoe and Red Screes from Galava

Todd Crag

Wansfell Pike

As we walked into town we saw this on the Rugby field.....no crew about to ask why it was there.....

But to my inexperienced eye it looked as though there may ahave been a problem with the engine as the exhaust ports were very black and the winch hoist looked charred. Probably wrong though!!

Wansfell from the churchyard

The Fairfield Horseshoe from Rothay Park

Miller Bridge over the River Rothay

Reflections in the River Brathay from the Ramblers Bridge

And finally ....The sawtooth Crinkle Crags and Bowfell from Waterhead
