Visions of Cumbria

The purpose of this section is to show various pictures from Cumbria which do not normally appear on our walks pages. They may have been taken on a day out or maybe on the way to or back from one of our walks or sent in by one of our readers. Either way I hope that you will enjoy them.

The pictures below were taken on the 17th January 2009 at Fell Foot park at the bottom end of Windermere not far from Newby Bridge. For more information click HERE it will open in a new page. Earlier we had been for a short walk up Gummer's How WALK HERE and I was interested to see how the park was after the recent flooding.

Looking down from near the car park.

Twisted Rhodendrum.

Looking N'wards along Windermere

The water level after recent rain was quite high but nowhere near as the last time we were here.

Walking towards the cafe with Gummer's How in view.

Looking towards Staveley Fell

The last time we were here this area was under water to see the pictures click HERE

Looking over the lake to Lakeside where the MV Teal was on the slipway for her winter overhaul.

The Victorian boathouses

Looking over to Lakeside. There is a small ferry service from Fell Foot to Lakeside in the main season.

The cafe unfortunately was not open. Whether this was due to the time of year or to Octobers flooding I'm not sure.

The Tern and Swan at Lakeside.

Gummer's How from the yacht club storage area.
