The purpose of this section is to show various pictures from Cumbria which do not normally appear on our walks pages. They may have been taken on a day out or maybe on the way to or back from one of our walks or sent in by one of our readers. Either way I hope that you will enjoy them.
27th April 2009
The morning had been dull with some rain but the weatherman was promising a brighter end to the day. By 2pm it started to brighten a little so we set off for a ride around the Arnside & Silverdale area. Unfortunately it didn't brighten as quickly as I had hoped as the pictures will show.
The River Bela near Milnthorpe
Sandside. A popular spot with the anglers in the autumn months when catches of flounder can be prolific.
Arnside with Hampsfell to the right from the old Arnside -Storth railway embankment
Whitbarrow
Arnside Pier
Arnside Tower and farm
Woodwell pond near Silverdale
A short stroll through Bottom Wood
The wild garlic is starting to flower now.
Another short stroll in Fleagarth Wood.
I was hoping to see more bluebells in here but the garlic seemed to be overpowering them
The old quarry at Warton Crag. A popular climbing spot but not allowed at this time of year when the birds are nesting.
Cowslips
A Limestone seat
With a view down the bay
Walking back to the car we came across these red cowslips which I can't recall seeing before.
