Dow Crag, Coniston Old Man, Brim Fell, Grey Friar, Great Carrs, Swirl How and Wetherlam

Weather:        A fine and sunny day

Route:           We left the car in Coniston near the school and took the Walna Scar road

Looking across Goat's Hause with Brim Fell in the centre. The path rising to the right goes to Coniston Old Man

Looking N'wards to Grey Friar and Swirl How from Dow Crag. From Dow Crag we descended to Goat's Hause and took the path to the Old Man

From Brim Fell we descended to the dip of Levers Hause to initially take the rising path to Swirl How but about 1/2 way up the rise we took a path left which can be seen running above the top of the rough ground to the dip on the left of picture. This would take us to Grey Friar.....

A close up of the road up Hard Knott pass from Cockley Beck. From Grey Friar it was just a 1 mile stroll across to Great Carrs but on the way.......

From Swirl How our route took us down the Prison Band to Swirl Hawse and then back up onto our final "Wainwright" of the day....Wetherlam

From Wetherlam looking to Blea Tarn with the Langdale Pikes behind. In the far distance can be seen the tops of the Skiddaws and Blencathra

From Wetherlam....Pike O'Blisco on the right, Cold Pike and the Crinkle Crags left with Bowfell behind centre

Our way back to Coniston would be down the Lad Stones ridge to Hole rake then down Church Beck.
