We left the car at Eaves Wood car park to walk to the "Pepperpot"

The path through Eaves Wood to the Pepperpot

The final section of the path. The paths were very wet with all the rain we have been having lately.

The "Pepperpot".   Wonder how it got that name!

120 years old and still going strong!

Silverdale from the Pepperpot. From here our path to Arnside Knott would take us through a caravan park.

The top end of the caravan park with Arnside Knott behind

From the caravan park we pass Arnside Tower.

A ruinous pele tower, possibly 13th or 14th century. It is situated about two miles outside of Arnside, near to Hazelslack and Lindeth towers. Arnside was badly damaged in a fire in 1602, repaired and occupied until the roof timbers were removed to Beetham and Knowsley in the 1680's. The tower is now in a severe ruinous state, showing damage from a storm in 1884 that destroyed the internal cross wall and the west corner of the tower.

Arnside Knott from Arnside Tower

One of the many paths on Arnside Knott. This one will lead us to the summit

Grange over Sands from the path up Arnside Knott

Looking down to Arnside and across the Kent estuary to Whitbarrow.

The story goes that a young sailor and his girlfriend twisted two young saplings together to make one. Whether it's true or not I don't know but the National Trust a few years ago tried to recreate it using tree grafts and I don't think it was successfull

The summit of Arnside Knott.

From the summit we just headed down the slope to go to the cafe at Arnside.

The Beach Walk Cafe at Arnside, by far the best value for money in the area.

From the cafe we followed the beach path to New Barns

Looking back to the railway viaduct over the Kent

New Barns. From there we took a path through the caravan park to Far Arnside

The path follows the coastline.

Getting near to Far Arnside on the coastal path

The path runs through another caravan park at Far Arnside

From Far Arnside we returned to Eaves Wood and took a path back to the car

and finally back to the car!
