I was unable to do much today as it was the day our Daughter-in-law and our youngest Granddaughter returned from a visit to her parents in Lithuania and we wanted to be about when she she returned. Edith also wanted to catch up in the garden so I just made my way to Eaves Wood for this short walk. Eaves Wood is interlaced with many paths, most of them not shown on the OS maps but it is a delight to just walk around. The only dangerous place is the now disused Middlebarrow Quarry. Walkers are not encouraged to walk around the edges but if care is taken it is a delightful spot.

An entry point
Now disused Middlebarrow Quarry. It is approximately 0.2 miles to the far end and about 250 deep.
A close up of Ingleborough as I walk up the left hand side of the quarry
Looking across the head of the quarry
From the quarry I took a series of paths which led me down to the caravan park
It looked quite busy now the school holidays are with us
A look across to Arnside Knott
From the caravan park I walked back into Eaves Wood to go to the Pepperpot

I descended to Elmslack near Silverdale
As I walked up the lane to take the field paths back to the car park I saw this little fella enjoying the sun
