10th August 2012

I hadn't intended going anywhere today but it was such a lovely morning that I couldn't resist taking the short drive to Sunderland for this short walk around the point. A number of folk must have had the same idea as I met a few people on the walk including a couple that knew me from the website.

A look back along the tidal road as I make my way along the shore towards First Terrace.

Above me the road runs past this fine dwelling.

Looking towards First Terrace.

Back on the road as I walk along First Terrace.

A look back.

The road continues along the shore towards Second Terrace with a footpath above the normal tidal reaches.

Into the morning sun towards Clougha Pike.

Any morning mist is fast burning away. The flat top of Ingleborough can be seen about 3" in from the right.

I decided to cross over to the West Shore and took The Lane. This gives views down to the point and the Fylde coast beyond.

A blurry big bird.

The second cut lies drying in the fields.

On the West shore looking towards Heysham.

A small bird or a Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep.....take your pick.

Samboo's grave was bovine free today.

Looking back as I approach the point. All the southern and eastern fells of Lakeland are showing.

Into the sun at the point.

A salmon fisherman off Plover Scar.

Having rounded the point I returned up the riverside.

Bleasdale Moors over the River Lune.

The big bird returns.

Sunderland Hall.

Approaching Second Terrace.

Big zoom.

Local fisherman.

Almost back and it's quite busy. The Library van is in attendance.

I decided to return home via Snatchems. Actually it's The Golden Ball but nicknamed Snatchems reputedly from the days of the Press gangs looking for crews.

Looking up the Lune towards Lancaster with Ingleborough beyond.
