This morning while Edith was at the Dentist with our Daughter I decided to have a little walk around Happy Mount Park which is not far away. For a number of years the park was sadly neglected but over the past 3 or 4 years it as slowly come back to life. However this morning around 10am on a rather bleak November morning it was virtually deserted.
Approaching the park and looking along Marine Rd towards Hest Bank.
Empty!!.....It was only 10am though, too early for visitors and too late for the dog walkers
The cafe was still closed but would open shortly.
The bowling green doesn't seem to do a lot during the week at this time of year.
There used to be a kiddies paddling pool here but it was recently replaced with a "Splash Pool" the pipework of which as been dismantled for the winter.
Even the train was in the sidings!
One of the entrances to the Japanese Gardens. Over the years this part of the park as been badly neglected, leaving them badly overgrown and the pools full of stagnant water.
However thanks to a volunteer group the gardens are slowly but surely being won back
And the council seem to be joining in, seen here cleaning the silt (which smelt awful) from one of the pools
In the summer time this area will hopefully be full of families playing putting.
To the left is the "Crazy Golf" course, and in the fenced enclosure the trampolines
On summer Sundays this area will be full of people listening to the bands.
Leaving the park and looking towards the town centre
Looking the other way to Warton Crag
My final picture of Arnside Knott coincides with the sun coming out.
