We were unable to go anywhere today as this morning I had an appointment at the Doctors, a kind of 6 monthly MOT and it was also our 39th Wedding Aniversary which meant in Ediths words "NO WALKING!!". I did however persuade her to walk from Whinistye Lane and walk along the recently "upgraded" section of the promenade to the Stone Jetty and back. This is about 4 miles so honours were even.

On another dull day looking towards Heysham from Whinnistye Lane.

"Sunny Slopes".....well it's sloping so we are halfway there!

Not sure what to call this. It's not exactly a climbing wall but at about 100 feet long hopefully the young ones will enjoy it.

The tide was coming in so the new rock groynes had plenty of birdlife on them.

Looking along to the new apartment block where the Grosvenor Hotel used to be.

Not as attractive a building as the Grosvenor but most of the apartments have sold now.

The "new" fishing jetty. By now Edith was in full "walking mode"

Looking towards the Battery from the new jetty

Looking back to Heysham

Looking across to the Cumberland View, recently renovated including the removal of the top storey.

At the Battery now looking along the west beach

Another recent improvement. The West End Gardens with 3 seperate play areas for the youngsters. This is for the tiny ones.

The "beach replenishment" scheme were many thousands of tonnes of sand have been placed on the beach as been a great success. However there is a downside to this which the recent storms have highlited once again. This is the the sand is being blown onto the promenade .

On previous occassions the amount blown over as not been that great. This time however many tonnes have had to be removed. Fortunately the council have now received permission from "Elf & Safety" to return the sand to the beach instead of "disposal in a safe manner". Common sense returns!!

"You've been framed". A new addition to the West End Gardens. As I took this picture our son David drove by on his way to a job. He phoned to say he thought we'd "lost the plot".

I suppose I better explain. It's meant to be a fishing rod.....

...and here's the catch!

Another small groyne near where the West End Pier used to be. The grass is Spartina grass which as totally taken over the shore at Grange over Sands across the bay.

By now you should be used to this!

"Be Happy".......what on earth is this about?

At last ...FOOD. I didn't have any breakfast as part of my MOT at the Doctors was a "fasting" bllod test.

We had seen plenty of dog walkers along the way but were totally unprepared for "Charlie". The young lady was walking him to Carnforth to a new home.

Ediths supply of dog biscuits were rapidly depleted.

And finally...a piece of totally useless information. In fairness the promenade as many plaques giving information on the area.
