Unfortunately we were not able to get out for a walk today due to family circumstances. Our daughter after many years of avoiding the Dentist had a 2 hour appointment were she was sedated and all the necessary remedial work carried out. Edith therefore had to accompany her to the local hospital and as to stay with her for 24 hours. After dropping them off at the hospital at 9am I went onto the promenade for a walk along the promenade and shore at Hest Bank.
I parked the car near Scalestones point where this statue lives. Not sure who it is by but it is obviously a Mother & Child.
Taken directly into the sun which had just started to show itself behind the golf course.
Grange over Sands with the faint outline of the Coniston Fells behind.
Looking towards the Stone Jetty with the Midland Hotel (Opens in June) reflecting the early morning sun.
Warton Crag
Taken from near the VVV Health Club a close up of Warton Crag with Red Bank in front
The VVV Health Club, formerly the Bradford Cinderella Home for disadvantaged children was still in the shade.
Walking along the beach to Hest Bank
Arnside Knott
Looking back to the VVV from Hest Bank
Looking towards Grange over Sands. The dark "lump" in the middle are the remains of an old timber and stone jetty that as come out of the sand over the last 2/3 years. Apparently it was built around 1820 to facilitate the transport of goods and passengers out of ships from Liverpool and Glasgow to the barges on the Lancaster Canal. A large trade was expected but failed to materialise.
The old jetty. It was about here that I turned around it being time to get back to the hospital.
And finally.....back to Morecambe
