With one of the highest tides of the year and gale force winds predicted I expected to be taking pictures of rough seas.....how wrong I was!

It was a beautiful morning at 11am as we left the car near Thornton Rd to walk to the Stone Jetty

A close up of Warton Crag showing the old quarry face

Across the bay to Grange over Sands and Hampsfell

Middleton Fell (approx 19 miles away)

Morecambe Town Hall

The Limestone Horse. Generations of Morecambe's children have ridden this fella.

The downside of the Beach replenishment scheme. Every time there is a strong wind the sand is blown onto the promenade and into the gardens.

The Clock Tower

"Bring me Sunshine"

Remember!......Reopening June '08

Summer must be on the way. The fairground people are back for another season.

Ingleborough with a dusting of snow (Distance: 20.5 miles)

On the way back to the car we caught this brief glimpse of the Coniston Fells (Distance: 23 miles)

It's as well there wasn't a gale blowing. The tide had been only 18 inches or so from the top of the Sea Wall at this point.
