After a visit to the town in the morning we decided to try a short walk. The afternoon was dull and grey so we just went up the A6 to Borwick for a walk along the canal and lanes near there. At just 2.75miles and 200feet of ascent/descent I decided to stick it in this section rather than in the Walks section.
The bridge as been repaired since our last visit here.
Dull conditions made photography difficult
Looking over to Warton Crag.

Warton Crag
This is where we left the canal to return along the lanes.
Our route was under the Keer viaduct using the arched footbridge behind the car over the River Keer
The last time we walked these lanes they were very muddy. Fortunately drier today as I was only in trainers.
At this point we were only a couple of hundred yards away from ther car seen across the field but we turned away from them to see if I could get a picture of...
this old gravel pit, now a fishery. There are a number of these old gravel pits some quite large. When work finished in them they have been developed into fisheries or holiday villages. The fishery people are very protective....
......which is understandable but the last time I tried to get a picture here I was asked to leave. Sea anglers are a lot more friendly ;-)
Nearly back now.
Back at the bridge and the car.
