26th January 2010

Edith was at her brothers today but due to other committments I could only get out in the morning. I had hoped to have a walk up Arnside Knott but as I drove along the promenade that idea was soon scrapped as it was yet another dull, gray day and looked very misty over yo the Knott. Instead I left the car in a layby next to the A6 at Bolton le Sands and had a couple of hours along the canal and back. Pictures are fairly self explanatory.

Mother & Child at the east promenade with an hazy Warton Crag behind.

There was barely a breath of wind and reflections were good or would have been with some sun.

I am just arriving at Carnforth here. The water is disturbed with all the ducks that hang about around the marina.

This section through the centre of Carnforth isn't very nice suffering from a lot of litter. I was surprised to find a section still partly frozen.

The B6254 raod bridge over the canal

The road and bridge as been widened at some point but is still only a single lane

I walked along the towpath a bit further before returning

The Canal Turn at the marina

The nearest boat is the Waterbus which runs a service between Carnforth and Lancaster in season.

That's all folks!!!....hopefully a better day tomorrow
