29th January 2010

We had been for a walk earlier in the day in the Lake District and as we returned home along the promenade at Morecambe the views across the bay were amazing. Just before sunset I decided to take myself off for a walk down to Half Moon Bay to catch the sunset. Unfortunately my plans were spoilt once again by a bank of thick cloud just above the horizon. The best time of year for the sunsets is in June when the sun sets further to the west.

The windfarm located off Walney Island across the bay was standing out.

With the sun setting so far to the south it is mainly the Conistons that stand out at sunset.

A brief bit of sunlight as it breaks through a gap in the cloud.

A Lakeland panorama

Not very clear, Helvellyn, Fairfield and Red Screes.....one day I must get a tripod.

St Patricks Chapel and as the sun sets the moon is rising

A not too good attempt at taking a close up of it.

Returns home.....despondent!!!......always another day!!
