28th February 2010
A combination of a dull day and the League Cup Final persuaded me to remain at home in the morning doing some catching up on the website and e_mails. Around 11-30am we decided to pop to the beach at Hest Bank for a walk along a section of the Lancashire Coastal Way. Of course the camera had to come and these are some of the pictures taken. Not the best by a long way but the best I could do.
The tide had just started to go out when we arrived at the car park on the shore at Hest Bank. The day was dull and cloudy but the Coniston Fells seemed to be faring better.
A close up showed they were getting a little sun.
Looking back towards Morecambe
Our walk would only be a short one along the shore to the top of Red Bank which is the sloping green field in the centre.
The tide was ebbing, you can see how high it had been by the line of weed and other rubbish in the centre of the picture.
A backwards glance
Leaning trees at a shoreside residence.
We are now at Red Bank. It is possible to follow the shore around it but today we.....
...would follow the Lancashire Coastal Way up it.
A look back
We are now at the top, a dizyy height of about 65' with Warton Crag ahead.
The top is even graced with a Triangulation Point
Looking over Grange and Hampsfell to the Coniston Fells
Passing the farm and campsite at Morecambe Lodge
A look back reveals some sun on Heathwaite
Finally back to the car and a cuppa
