25th March 2011
Because of other commitments we were unable to travel far today but around midday we had an hour or two to spare so decided to have a walk across Half Moon Bay and the Barrows to the village to see how the daffodils were doing in Chapel Wood.
The new cafe building at Half Moon Bay is coming along a treat. I do hope that we have a brilliant summer weather-wise and this gets off to a flying start. These are not easy times to start up new businesses and he deserves all the luck going.
It is a beautiful day as we set off across Half Moon Bay although the haziness persists and views across the bay are nil.
Having crossed the fields we enter the National Trust owned Heysham Head
The gorse is bursting into flower.
We are now about to enter the area known as Heysham Barrows, also owned by the National Trust.
There are two anglers sitting on the rocks waiting for the incoming tide to reach them.
St Patrick's Chapel and the Stone Graves.
Although small in area, Chapel Woods are a delight to walk through. The years seem to be taking there toll on the daffodils however as the majority seem to be blind.
You tell me!!!.....I've still no idea why that rectangle as been cut out of the top.
St Peter's Church
A resting place with a view. There is a downside however. The retaining wall shown below is in constant danger from the sea and there is a danger collapse.
Cafe? - Pub? - Cafe?......you should know by now.
The entrance to the old Heysham Head entertainment centre, now a private residence.
A look back over the playing fields
Commercial Heysham as we make our way back.
