The purpose of this section is to show various pictures from Cumbria which do not normally appear on our walks pages. They may have been taken on a day out or maybe on the way to or back from one of our walks or sent in by one of our readers. Either way I hope that you will enjoy them.

Another trip out to the Lakes this time to the far SW corner. our trip took us along the A5092 & A595 to Duddon Bridge where we took the road over Corney Fell. As there were too many pictures to put on one webpage and also it's easier on my wrists and fingers I have split the trip into two sections.
The Coniston Fells from near Lowick
Great Burney (l) and Combs (r) from Gawthwaite Moor
The Coniston Fells from Wreaks Causeway
The Dunnerdale Fells
Black Combe
We turned off at Duddon Bridge to visit the old Furnace House .....passed it many times but last visited in the early 1990's.
For more info on the Furnace click HERE ....it will open in a new window
This was where the waterwheel used to be
Foxgloves not far from flowering now.
Leaving the furnace we carried on along the Corney Fell road.
The road climbs to an height of about 1300feet giving splendid views
We parked at the top. Looking N'wards to Buckbarrow
S'wards to Stoneside Hill and towards Black Combe
A distant Isle of Man
Along the Cumbrian coastline towards the Scottish coastline.
Isle of Man in close up.
Buckbarrow
Looking back with Ingleborough on the centre horizon.
The start of our return leg.
