We left the car near Church Bridge at Troutbeck and took the bridleway up the eastern side of the valley.

Tiny Troutbeck Tongue lays in the centre of the valley surrounded by the higher fells.

From our path up the valley, looking down onto Limefitt Park.

Long Green Head farm. We followed the track to the far end of Troutbeck Tongue to gain its ridge from there.

We are now at the northern end of the Tongue looking towards Threshthwaite Mouth. From here it was a just a case of following the ridge south to the summit.

From near the summit looking down the valley to Windermere.

Red Screes in the distance. The road on the left is the A592 on its way over the Kirkstone Pass.

Edith on Troutbeck Tongue.

Dave on Troutbeck Tongue. From the summit we descended down the steeper southern end of the fell.

Looking down the valley as we descended.

Looking back towards the Tongue from near Troutbeck Park.

Troutbeck Park farm. From here we followed a track (Ing Lane) down the valley to Town Head from where it was a short walk down the A592 back to the car.
