Weather:                  Fine but cool on the tops.

We left the car near the church at Kentmere and took the path up the Garburn pass.

There was an early morning mist hanging in the valley as we set off up the Garburn Pass.

The ridge path carries on over Froswick and then to Thornthwaite Crag.

The path to the High Street follows the track of an old Roman road.

Edith on the High Street summit. Also known as Racecourse Hill it was a meeting place for shepherds in centuries past where annual feasts were held and horses raced.

Dave on the High Street. From here it was a 20 minute walk to Mardale Ill Bell.

Blea Water from Mardale Ill Bell. From here the path took us to the top of the Nan Bield Pass.

The shelter on the top of the Nan Bield Pass. The path carries on up onto Harter Fell but our path would be down to the right into Kentmere.

Our path down into Kentmere took us down these delightful zig-zags.

Kentmere Reservoir from the path down into the valley. Our path kept us above the reservoir over Smallthwaite Knott before dropping down into the valley bottom.

We followed a series of paths and lanes back down the valley to Kentmere and the church.
