White Scar, the southernmost scar of Whitbarrow from where I left the car.
After walking up to Raven's Lodge I took a path through the disused quarry which followed the bottom of the scar for a while before climbing up onto the ridge
After emerging from the trees the views started to appear. Looking southerly towards Arnside
A little further along the ridge looking SW'ly towards Lindale
and Southerly towards Arnside Knott. The Power Stations at Heysham can just be seen on the horizon.
Looking along the ridge towards the summit
Looking down to Witherslack Hall where my return path would take me
Whitbarrow summit cairn with the Kirkstone Pass just to the left
Looking towards the Coniston Fells from Whitbarrow
Looking south from the summit towards Arnside Knott
From the summit it is just a case of heading N'wards to pick up a cross wall and to follow it down to the left to Bell Rake
The cross wall with the Kirkstone Fells in the distance
Bell Rake -- Easier to go up than down but no problems really even when wet
From the foot of the Rake I took this permissive path towards Witherslack Hall
The permissive path exits here from where I took a track through these woods to Beck Head
Beck Head -- One of Ediths Uncles used to live here
The Beck. From Beck Head I followed the track down to Mill Side where I picked up a bridleway back to Raven's Lodge
The bridleway back to Raven's Lodge
It's pleasant enough walking through here but there ain't a lot to see
Back to Raven's Lodge and on my way to the car I took this of Scout Scar
Next Walk: 24th July 2007 -- A Mardale Head circular from Mardale Head
Last Walk: 20th July 2007 -- Loughrigg Fell from Clappersgate
