This was one of those days when you wonder "what the hell am I doing here". When we set off from Wythop Mill it was plain to see that it was very windy and that rain was on the way. However I thought that we could nip out from Whinlatter forest to Whinlatter summit and then get back into the relative shelter of the forest. Well, we did manage it but it was no fun, views were very limited and when we left Whinlatter Top for Brown How we were unable to get any pictures because of the rain.
Whinlatter Visitor Centre.
Walking through the forest we were sheltered from the wind.
On the forestry road that would take us to the fellside and looking across the top of yhe Whinlatter Pass.
At the end of this road there was a stile over the fence onto the open fell.
We are on the fellside now and climbing onto the ridge
Edith trying to get some shelter on Whinlatter Top.
Dave on Whinlatter Top. This is the highest point on Whinlatter but the western point of Brown How is usually recognised as the summit. Unfortunately just after leaving here the rain became so heavy that taking pictures was an impossibility.
We were nearly back to the forest before it eased off enough to get the camera out.
On returning to the forest we decided to the Seat How summit walk which goes over Ullister Hill and Seat How
Views were very limited although at least we were out of the wind.
It's at times like this that I start to think about stamp collecting as an interest!
It was at this point that I gave up with the camera and just hoped that the Visitor Centre was around the next corner!!!
