Date: | 19th September 2007 | Parking: | We did this walk from the cottage at Wythop Mill |

Route: | Wythop Mill - Kelswick Farm - Sale Fell - St. Margaret's Church - Wythop Mill |
The day had started very wet so we decided to have a day off from the walking and do some of the "touristy" things which isn't really my cup of tea. We decided to have a run down the A66 to Rheged. My honest opinion?......well it may be partly underground but that is the only thing "under" about it. Overpriced and overated is my opinion, but then, I may just be a grumpy old git! After a fairly brief visit we returned to Keswick and by this time the weather was starting to brighten a little. We had a walk down to the waterside and had a brew and bun in the cafe....you know the one......the one with the invisible man playing the piano, followed by a walk to Friars Crag. It was quite nice by now so we decided to return to Wythop and have a short walk from there.
Edith leaves Sty Cottage in a determined mood, or was she thinking " I thought we were having a walk-free day today"
It was a bit difficult to get this picture and it isn't that good but it's the bridge over Wythop Beck at Wythop Mill.
After walking up the lane towards Kelswick for a while the road crosses the beck at Brumston Bridge to Wythop Hall. However we kept straight on towards Kelswick Farm.
The farm lane to Kelswick.
From the farm lane we took this shortcut to the main path
Ling Fell across the valley.
Regular readers will have noted by now that this is the reverse route of Walk No.70 that we did on our day of arrival.
Lord's Seat and Broom Fell across the Wythop valley
A look back to Kelswick Farm
Should I go or should I stay?
Plenty of sunshine now as can be seen with the shadows of the trees in the valley
Using a bit of Dodd Crag as a foreground to Lord's Seat and Broom Fell.
Looking across the top of the valley to the Helvellyn Dodds in the distance
Wasn't you here on Saturday?
From near the summit looking down to the Vale of Embleton
Binsey and just a glimpse of Bass Lake from the summit
Starting our descent with the Uldale Fells across the valley
The Skiddaws
Looking up the valley to Lord's Seat
As we swung round to the north we opened up the views to Bass Lake with Binsey behind
The path down to the new Church
Looking down to the Pheasant Inn......I wonder if there's waiter service!
Nearly down to the Church now.
Remember this?....No?.......Back to Walk No.70 you go!
Finally back to Wythop Mill
