This was to be the last walk of our break at Wythop Mill as Edith was ready to return home to see that the "moggy" was ok. I wasn't for disagreeing with here as creaky knees were starting to complain. In the event we actually departed later this day (Thursday) as the weather forecast for Friday was very poor. This is no reflection on the lovely Sty Cottage, we will go back there and explore the Wythop valley at leisure another time. We left the car near Overwater and walked along the lane first to Lowthwaite farm and then to Longlands where we gained access to the fellside on a bridleway which is part of the Cumbria Way. We followed this track until diverting along the rising ridge of Longlands Fell. From the summit of Longlands Fell we skirted around the eastern flank of Lowthwaite Fell before going off-path and basically just following Charleston Gill up the western flank of Brae Fell until we reached the ridge. From there it was but a short stroll to the summit. We then descended mostly off-path to reach the bridleway we started out on at Charleston Wath. From there it was a simple case of retracing our route back to the car.
The car was left near Overwater on a rather dull morning.
