Having finally caught up with the backlog of walks from our recent break at Wythop Mill in the Lake District we decided to have a walk a little closer to home today. We left the car in a layby not too far away from the RSPB Visitor centre at Leighton Moss and took the path across the Moss to Grisedale farm. A short distance past the farm we took a path across the fields to Yealand Storrs. From there we took a track to Hayes Water and the Gait Barrows Nature Reserve. It was then a short walk down the quiet road for a visit to the Waterslack Garden centre for a brew and scone before walking through Eaves Wood and across the fields to Silverdale Green. A short walk down the road from there returned us to the car.
We left the car in a layby about 600 yards away from the RSPB Visitor centre.

This little fellow was enjoying the sun
The path across Leighton Moss
Leighton Moss......It seemed unusually quiet this morning
A couple of female pheasants. We saw hundreds of them along the field paths to Yealand Storrs
Walking through the fields to Yealand Storrs
Leighton Moss from the path to Yealand Storrs
Nearly at Yealand Storrs and looking down to Brow Foot farm. Our next path would take us through the woods behind the farm.
The area is called "Yealand Hall Allotment" and the path leads to Hawes Water and the Gait Barrow nature reserve
which we are entering now.
One of the locals. I was just taken with her colouring.
Don't panic!!......It's only a wood sculpture as we enter the Waterslack Garden centre.
You tell me!!!
The Duck pond
One of the two female pygmy goats. Not sure if it's Poppy or Lilly
But this is why we went. They have a very good cafe and look, they also have waitress service. I think she's saying " If you don't put that *#"* camera away I'll smash it" but there again, I could be wrong.
Leaving the garden centre we enter into Eaves Wood
Walking through the wood
We left Eaves Wood and took the field paths to Silverdale Green.
Crinkle Cottage at Silverdale Green. Built 1552 and looking as pretty as ever.
Walking back to the car and looking down on Leighton Moss
