Route:    Silverdale - Eaves Wood - Arnside Tower - Arnside Knott - Hollins Farm - The Cove - Silverdale

I had not planned any walking for today, Edith already having decided that she preferred to go on Sunday but when I awoke to a glorious morning I just had to get somewhere for a couple of hours. Not wanting to travel far the obvious choice was the Arnside/Silverdale area and once again it did not disapoint me. I left the car at Silverdale about 8:15am with the sun just starting to clear the overnight mist and walked to Eaves Wood. Staying on the bottom path I walked to the caravan park and past Arnside Tower to make my way up Arnside Knott. From the Knott I made my way down to Hollins Farm and back through the bottom end of the caravan park to The Cove. After a brief stay there I made my way back to Silverdale and the car.

What a view to start with. Looking towards Eaves Wood from the field path. The overnight mist was just starting to clear in the bright sunlight.

Walking through Eaves Wood. Nature is laying a new carpet at the moment.

The path through the top end of the caravan/camping site

From the caravan site looking across to Arnside Knott basking in the early morning sunlight.

Further to the left lays the wooded Heaththwaite.

Arnside Tower

Looking down to Arnside Tower farm still with a little mist around it

To the right of the farm and still out of the sun the mist still hung above the fields

My path up Arnside Knott , but there are plenty to choose from.

Nearly at the summit and looking over the Kent estuary towards Grange over Sands and Hampsfell

Long shadows on the summit of Arnside Knott

Looking towards a mist enshrouded Whitbarrow

The Lovers Tree

Looking over Heathwaite with Humphrey Head in the distance

Looking down over Copridding Wood and Frith Wood towards Grange and Hampsfell

The mist seemed reluctant to disperse but in a way added to the beauty

After waiting a short while I got this close up of a train crossing the viaduct

Descending towards Heathwaite

One of the locals at Hollins Farm

Looking back as I left Heathwaite at Hollins farm.

Came across these little fellows at Hollins farm. In the winter they are put on the Knott to graze.

From Hollins farm it was only a 5 minute stroll across the fields back to the bottom end of the caravan/camping site

and then another 5 minutes to The Cove. Looking to Park Point with Grange behind.

Anybody spot the birdie?

Is it looking for it's dinner?

From The Cove it's only a short walk across two fields to Silverdale

As I was leaving this family were arriving. As soon as the two young girls saw the cave they had to investigate

As I crossed the field these gulls were in a feeding frenzy. Probably shrimps it's a bit early for whitebait yet.

The path across the fields to Silverdale. Taken into the sun and that mist won't burn away.

and finally..........Back to Silverdale
