We weren't able to go far today as Edith had a Doctors appointment in the morning and the weather was very good either. We decided on a short walk along the beach following the Lancashire Coastal Way from Hest Bank to Bolton le Sands with a return along the Lancaster Canal.

We left the car at Hest Bank on the shore and set off along the Lancashire Coastal Way.

These are the remains of an old jetty which have recently appeared as the salt marsh as washed away. Not sure how old it is but probably 200 yrs or so. If anybody knows more an e_mail would be appreciated.

Looking across to Grange over Sands and Hampsfell.

And to Arnside Knott

Take heed!!!......These sands are dangerous

Following the shoreline towards Red Bank

A sad memorial to the Chinese cockle pickers who lost there lives in February 2004

Warton Crag from Red Bank

Grange over Sands from Red Bank

We made our way to Bolton le Sands along the shore from where we went to the canal

An Heron that flew overhead as I was taking another picture

There was plenty of evidence of the heavy rainfall we have been having lately

A swing bridge on the canal near Hest Bank

As we approached this bridge the heavens opened. Eventually there were about 7 of us and 4 dogs sheltering here

Back at Hest Bank

Hest Bank crossing where we left the car

Unfortunately the cafe here was closed so it was back to Morecambe to visit our good friends at the Stone Jetty cafe.
