Route:

Beetham - Dallam Park - Sandside - Haverbrack - Beetham Fell - Beetham

Another walk close to home today as I wanted to be back in time to watch the football on TV. We left the car in a layby on the A6 near Beetham and walked to the village to take a path through Dallam Park towards Milnthorpe. On leaving the Park we followed the River Bela until it merges with the River Kent near Sandside. A rising path then saw us walking over Haverbrack and then onto Beetham Fell where we had to visit the "Fairy Steps". From there we took the path down to Beetam and returned to the car.

Beetham Hall farm complete with Pele Tower. We parked the car near here.

Looking over to Farleton Fell as we walked towards Beetham.

A colourful planter as we enter Beetham.

We followed the River Bela until it merged with the River Kent near Sandside

We used the trackbed of a disused railway line for part of the way

From Sandside we took a rising path up to Haverbrack. Here we are looking back over the River Kent to Whitbarrow

From higher up and there appears to be sunshine on the Kentmere Fells

A closeup shows the Kentmere Fells bathed in sunlight

Whitbarrow from the path up Haverbrack

Walking through the woods on Haverbrack

And onto Beetham Fell. We had a choice at this cairn....Left for the direct route to Beetham or Right for Fairy Steps.....easy decision

Passing the village school on the way back to the car with what looks like an adventure playground

And finally....back to the car at the side of the A6 which seemed unusually quiet today.
