The worst of the predicted bad weather seemed to have passed by overnight but I decided to have a walk from home along the coastline and back.
I walked from home down to Half Moon Bay and took the path to the Barrows
Looking up to St Patrick's Chapel.....I think I must have got some salt spray on the camera lens here
There is some concern over this wall at the bottom of St Peters churchyard. It needs strengthening before it collapses into the sea along with a number of graves.
Looking back into the sun at Heysham
and my path ahead which would would involve a little wave dodging.
I was very impressed with the new sea defences along this section of promenade. The sloping limestone rocks absorb the power of the waves well. With conditions like these this section would have normally have been flooded.
If this awesome power could be captured we wouldn't need all those wind turbines that are springing up all over the place.
The jetty that the waves are breaking over is for the anglers to fish from......surprisingly I never saw any today.
Fairly peaceful on the other side of the jetty....This stretch known as Sandylands was prone to flooding
Obviously it had been rougher during the night as there was some washed up rubbish about.
A look back as I set off back.
And finally ......Back to Half Moon Bay and looking into the sun towards the Harbour and Power Stations.
