We were not able to go anywhere today so I did this short walk from home first thing after breakfast.
It's only a short walk from our house down to Half Moon Bay and going through here keeps you away from the road.
Almost there
At Half Moon Bay now and my way lays ahead to the North Roundhead at the Harbour entrance
A look back towards Half Moon Bay and the Barrows
The old lighthouse at Near Naze with Black Combe behind
Here I'm at the North Roundhead and looking across the harbour entrance to the South Roundhead and a rather sad looking breakwater which seems to get less and less after each storm.
A look into the Harbour which was very quiet today.
Taken into the sun there is only one ship in at the moment.
A close up reveals it as the MV Moondance which is the sister ship to the Riverdance which came ashore at Cleveleys earlier this year. The attempts at refloating the Riverdance have all ended sadly in failure and the decision as been taken to cut her up into pieces and remove it that way.
The Power Stations at Heysham where I spent part of my working life.
Walking back to Half Moon Bay
Back at Half Moon Bay and walking towards the Barrows
Entering the grounds of the old Heysham Head site now owned, like the Barrows by the National Trust
Looking back to the harbour from the Barrows
An optimistic angler tries his luck from the rocks
St. Patricks Chapel and the Stone graves
Bluebells in Chapel Wood
An unusual seat and shelter combination
St. Peters church
Main Street, Heysham Village
The old gatehouse to the Heysham Head entertainment site, now a private residence
Local football
Preparing the cricket pitch
And finally....The Old Hall....only 10am though and I'm only a couple of minutes from home.
Next Walk: 21st April 2008 -- Levens Park & the Canal from Levens Bridge
