A short walk in the Arnside area taking in the Fairy Steps and Beetham Fell. Paths in the main are easy and good but there a couple of wall stiles that could prove troublesome if like me you have knee that doesn't like being bended more than 90 degrees.
From the car our initial route would be across the area known as Arnside Moss
A look back to Arnside & the Knott
Here she goes!
After crossing a drainage dyke the path previously fenced enters open fields
Looking over to Carr Bank
Out of the sun but I bet it was pretty warm in there
We left the field through a wall stile to the right of the gate then afer crossing the lane took another one directly opposite
Approaching Hazelslack
Hazelslack Tower
And from t'other side......spot anything?
C'mon be honest...How many spotted the chick?
The way to Fairy Steps
Back to Hazelslack
Entering Underlaid Wood and some welcome shade
Beetham Fells like it's neighbours is a big block of Limestone.
A section of limestone pavement
Fairy Steps.....I have embarassed Edith enough with previous pictures going up here so today was to be a little different
We followed the edge of the escarpment round to the right on an often slippy path until we found another fault which allowed to to gain the top.
The wooded top unfortunately doesn't allow for distant views but is a delight to walk through
The path exits on a quiet lane which we turned left down to Storth.
A glimpse of Arnside Knott
Storth
We walked down from Storth to join the track of the old railway line back to Arnside
To Lakeland hills
Acroos the estuary to Hampsfell
Whitbarrow
Somebodys been cutting sea washed turf from the look of that square
We left the track before reaching the station at Arnside
The start of the "Limestone Link" we would only walk past the cottages to cross the railway line and turn right back to the car.
This tree appears to be consuming the wall
And finally.....back to the car
