A late morning meeting in Kendal meant a walk along the Kendal Scars. This is a particular favourite of mine for the fabulous views it gives right uo the Kentmere Valley to my favourite fells. Today however the views from Cunswick Fell were at there best murky although it did improve towards the end.
Off we go!
We'll give doing down here a miss today. It is called Gamblesmire Lane and mire means muck. With all the rain of late it will be a mess at the bottom.
A glimpse of the Howgill Fells with the top of Benson Knott just showing over Kendal Fell.
A simple walk to the top along grass makes this a very popular walk although we nearly have it to ourselves today
Competition time......Spot the Coniston Fells.....they should be over there somewhere.
A look back as we near the summit.
Cunswick Fell summit with Potter Fell ahead and a glimpse of the Shap Fells behind
Looking down to Staveley with Reston Scar and Spy Crag behind
Looking over Burneside to the Whinfell Ridge
Distant Howgills with Benson Knott on the right
The summit catches the sun as we make our way back
After retuning to the car we made our way up onto Scout Scar and it does look to be clearing a little
Looking across the Lyth Valley to Whitbarrow with Arnside Knott in the distance.
Even the Coniston Fells put in an appearance
Scout Scar trig point
Making our way back now with the shelter ahead
Lots of stunted windswept trees
Definitely getting clearer now as the fells become clearer
The Fairfield Fells
And even a glimpse of the Langdale Pikes
Still under a blanket of gray clouds but the Kentmere Fells are clearer now.
And finally back to the car.
