It would have been good to have gone further afield today but it wasn't possible. Edith had been at Blackpool the previous evening with our son, his wife and her mother to see a show and didn't get back till late. Also she was due to visit her brother later in the day so we just settled for this short walk.
Route Map
After parking the car we made our way to the Lancaster Canal. Shown here is the navigable end of the canal. The canal originally ran into Kendal but was culverted here and a number of other locations when the M6 was being built.
It is a glorious morning.
Looking across to the new marina which was built recently.
There are some nice reflections in the more sheltered sections of the canal.
Looking over to Warton Crag. The field is still frosted as the sun hasn't reached it yet.
Sanders's Bridge
There's a nip in the air but it a gorgeous day.
A look back to Mansergh Farm
Again a look to Warton Crag.
Here we have left the canal and headed towards the railway viaduct over the tiny River Keer.
Almost directly under the viaduct we cross the river on this old bridge.
Our way now follows this lane.
A small diversion and a bit of a trespass took us to this private Nature Reserve the name of which escapes me.
Eventually we rejoined the canal at Borwick Hall Bridge.
A local comes on the scrounge but is out of luck today.
Almost back
And finally....back to the car.
