We had seen the colours at Levens Park as we returned home from our previous walk and decided on a visit at the earliest opportunity. It was fine & sunny when we awoke this morning so straight after breakfast we packed the bags in the car and made our way up the A6 to Levens. Unfortunately it soon clouded over but there was a number of bright spells. We were fortunate to see both the goats and the deer as we walked up one side of the River Kent and returned down the other.

Route Map

It was these trees that had caught my eye as we returned home from our walk along Scout Scar.

Beautiful autumnal colours as we made our way to the river.

It had clouded over somewhat since leaving home but when the sun did appear it lit the trees up.

The River Kent looking quite peaceful.

Having visited the river we made our way back to cross Levens Bridge to walk up the the other side.

A look across to where we had been a few minutes ago.

A group of walkers make their way up the other side. Hopefully that will be our return route.

It is always a wonderful place to pass an hour or two but this for me, is when the park is at it's best.

A big zoom gives a view of some Black Fallow Deer. Hopefully we shall see more on the return leg.

It looks like the lady with the dog is herding the Bagot Goats towards us but she was only, like us, enjoying a walk.

A touch of sun as we head towards the top of the park.

A stag makes a dash for it.

Cottages at the top of the park.

After leaving the park and crossing the A590 there was a short road walk down to Sedgwick Bridge

The River Kent from the bridge.

We then walked down to Park Head, passing Force Falls along the way. The salmon making there way upriver were ignoring the man made run to the left and jumping the main falls. Unfortunately despite a number of tries I was unable to capture them on camera.

Park Head

A look over to Sizergh Fell.

From Park Head our route took us down the park on the other side of the river.

As we walked down there was the roaring noise of a stag. As his mind was on other things I managed to get within 30-40 feet of him before the hinds saw me and moved.

I did take a couple of videos of him for the sound effects but unfortunately my wheezing overpowered his roaring.....1 up to the wheezy one then!!

We continued our walk down the park.

Back to the river.

Levens Hall and the cafe were closed for the season but I popped in for this view.
